From the Dean

John FinneganToday is my favorite day of the academic year. In just a few hours, we will gather at Northrop Auditorium to celebrate the 2009 class of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. I love to imagine the ways in which our 218 graduating students will go on to shape and change the world. The scope of those changes will, indeed, be worldwide; this year’s graduating class represents 48 countries.

I hope you will stay in contact with us and with your fellow classmates. As you know, an engaged alumni base is vital to the school’s research, education, and outreach efforts.

Thank you for all the ways in which you have enriched our school. Congratulations on a job very well done. And best wishes for an exciting, rewarding, and fruitful career.

—John R. Finnegan, Jr., Ph.D.
