The Phillips Neighborhood Clinic (PNC) is a student-run clinic that provides free health care to the under-served and unstably housed members of the Phillips Neighborhood in South Minneapolis. Students interested in volunteering should consider attending one of two informational meetings to learn more. The first is scheduled from12:15-1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Moos 2-520. Session No. 2 is scheduled from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Moos 2-520. Volunteer applications, due Sept. 19, are available in the CHIP Lounge, SPHERE, and MSW Student Lounge. Health.

Hurry! The SPH Mentor Program deadline is Sept. 14. All first year students are invited to participate. Benefits include:

--Networking with public health professionals
--Discovering career opportunities available in public health
--Sharing ideas about linking academic work to career objectives
--Exploring the challenges and rewards of working in public health, and more.

Your commitment to a mentor relationship will require about one to two hours each month from October to May.

The Community Involvement Fair will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Great Hall at Coffman Union. Talk to representatives from more than 80 organizations to find a position that matches your interests. Workshops will be offered and a $100 gift certificate to U of M Bookstores will be given away.

The St. Paul Campus Job and Internship Fair will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Continuing Education Conference Center, 1980 Buford Ave., St. Paul. An informational meeting will be held Sept. 25 about the Master of Public Health and Master of Social Work dual degree program. The meeting will be held from 1:45 to 3 p.m. in room 5 of Peters Hall on the St. Paul Campus. If interested contact Kathryn Schwartz at schwa139@umn.edu.

The Connection Between Food and Health will be the topic of this ¿Public Health Matters¿ breakfast forum. Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Sanne Magnan and Minnesota Department of Agriculture Eugene Hugoson will discuss critical issues about food and its impact on the public¿s health. The event will be held at the Neighborhood House in St. Paul.
