Make yourself more competitive in the job search—start your career the right way. Get Certified in Public Health (CPH). To be eligible for the CPH exam you must have graduated from a CEPH-accredited school or program in public health. Those graduating in 2010 must have completed all degree requirements on or before July 31, 2010.

Student News
The SPH Student Senate will hold its next general meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. in the SPHere. All SPH students are welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. The division representatives and committee chairs, as well as the roster of voting members, will be made available on the SPHSS website.
A graduate assistantship in the Reden & Anders Fellows program is available for the 2009 fall semester. The deadline for applications is Oct. 15.

Order your student business cards by Friday, Oct. 16. The cost is $12 per box and includes 100 two-color cards with each studentā??s personal and program-specific information. Contact Kristina Pearson at pearson@umn.edu with questions.

Join a Peace Corps recruiter and SPH returned Peace Corps volunteers to share stories, learn more about the myriad of Peace Corps opportunities, and enjoy complimentary appetizers. SPH apparel is on sale until noon on Oct. 23. Order forms should be returned with payment to the Student Senate Office through the mail slot in the SPHere (Mayo A150). Checks should be made payable to “University of Minnesota.” Orders can be shipped. The proceeds from the apparel sale go to support PAMOJA, the Student Senate-sponsored social event for SPH, which takes place in the spring. Consider purchasing some warm SPH gear as the winter season rolls in. E-mail sphss@umn.edu with questions.

A government and law enforcement careers panel will occur on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 12:30-2 p.m., Hubert Humphrey Center, Room 215. This event is good preparation for the Oct. 26 government job and internship fair.

Francophone Public Health Journal Club. A small group of students have started a public health journal club for speakers of French. Anyone who speaks French, whatever the level, is invited to join. If you are interested, contact Ben at stei0496@umn.edu.
