Appendix 2.6.c. Health Services Research, Policy and Administration MS Competency Statement

The purpose of the M.S. program in health services research, policy and administration is to train researchers who can take a specific research question and review the literature, design and administer appropriate data collection instruments, analyze the data, and present the results to a professional or lay audience. We expect our graduates to be competitive for positions in private health plans, consulting companies, public and private policy analysis units, public health insurance programs, and other similar units.

The curriculum consists of an interdisciplinary examination of the social, political, and economic forces that affect the organization, financing and delivery of health care services with some greater emphasis on applied statistical and data analysis skills.
