Minnesota Gov. Pawlenty in HongKong
There are more than 63,000 hospitals and clinics in China but the country is facing a critical shortage of hospital and health care administrators. This is where the School of Public Health’s ISP program comes in to help with this critical global need.

The ISP Executive Study program, brainchild of SPH professor Vernon Weckwerth, has been in place at the University for more than 40 years. The program offers credentialing in health care management that can be applied toward a master’s degree in healthcare administration or public health.

On November 17, 2005, the University of Minnesota formally launched ISP Asia in Hong Kong at a ceremony presided over by Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.  University of Minnesota President Robert Bruininks and ISP Asia director Geoffrey Lieu were the official signators of the agreement.HongKong Harbor

“I am delighted to be embarking on an important  partnership with colleagues in Hong Kong to serve Asian health care executives,” says Weckwerth.

Lieu echoes those sentiments: “The number of health care executives here that can benefit from quality leadership and management education is huge.”
