About the PHI

The Summer Public Health Institute offers a course for everyone practicing in or studying public health or fields related to public health. Participants can build or expand their professional expertise, learn best practices, broaden career options, network with other professionals or explore a new area of interest.

Course content emphasizes research to practice with opportunities for field trips, case studies, hands-on labs, and simulations.

Summer Public Health Institute courses cost $829 per credit + PHI Fee $25/credit (reduced from $132). Field trip courses will be assessed an additional fee to cover travel costs.

Note: This tuition rate applies to School of Public Health and non-degree seeking students. Rates may vary for other UMN programs. Additional UMN & collegiate fees may apply.

Noncredit Continuing Education Registration fee: $595/per 15 contact hours (Note: 1 credit = 15 contact hours)

Key dates

Registration opens April 9 for admitted students and April 16 for everyone.

PHI courses run May 28 – June 14:

  • Week 1: May 28-31
  • Week 2: June 3-7
