American Water Works Association Scholarships
- The American Water Works Association offers several scholarship opportunities for students seeking both undergraduate and graduate degrees in the field of drinking water science. Applicants complete one form for consideration to multiple scholarships.
- Eligibility: Must be attending an institute of higher learning in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or Mexico. Specific Eligibility varies by scholarship type.

Cooley Masters Scholarship
- The award is open to a master’s level student who is currently enrolled in a health education program at an accredited college/university in the United States or a U.S. territory. This award is a $1,000 scholarship, which recipients may spend in any manner they desire. The scholarship recipient will be recognized at the annual Awards Luncheon at the AAHE/AAHPERD convention. She or he will also receive a one-year complimentary student membership in AAHE.
- Eligibility: The award is open to a master’s level student who is currently enrolled in a health education program at an accredited college/university in the United States or a U.S. territory. To be eligible, the applicant must have a minimum current overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Prior AAHE scholarship recipients are not eligible.

David A. Winston Health Policy Scholars Program
- The David A. Winston Health Policy Scholarship Program recognizes student excellence and achievement based upon the student’s record and recommendations from faculty and colleagues and evidence of their interest in and commitment to health policy. Ten $5,000 scholarships will be offered to students who demonstrate their potential to succeed in health policy at the state or federal level upon graduation from their master’s health administration degree program. In the fall following selection, students will be hosted at a 2-day health policy symposium in Washington, DC.
- Eligibility: first year graduate students in their second full timesemester or third full timequarter studying at any AUPHA member graduate program. Applicants must be scheduled to complete the didactic portion of their degree during the 2012-2013 academic year. Scholars are selected based on expressed and demonstrated commitment to health policy, leadership, academic achievement, community involvement and long term career interest in health policy. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Dr. Alma S. Adams Scholarship
- The Dr. Alma S. Adams Scholarship for Outreach and Health Communications is aimed at reducing tobacco use among what the American Legacy Foundation calls “Priority Populations.” Priority populations are those populations who are disproportionately targeted by the tobacco industry, or who often lack the tools and resources to combat smoking in their communities. Identified priority populations are Native Americans/Alsaka Natives, Hispanics, African Americans, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Low SES, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities.
- Eligibility: Applicants must provide evidence of community service activities in an underserved community setting. Service activities may include activism, outreach, or peer counseling in tobacco prevention or control. Students pursuing a course of study in public health, communications, social work, education, liberal arts or a related field will be considered eligible. Must demonstrate financial need and have a GPA of at least 3.0.

Erma Byrd Scholarship
- The Erma Byrd Scholarship Program provides scholarships to individuals pursuing a course of study that will lead to a career in industrial health and safety occupations, including mine safety. This program is designed to increase the skilled workforce in these fields at both the fundamental skills level and the advanced skills level. The program has a service obligation component, requiring recipients of the scholarship to be employed in a career position directly related to industrial health and safety, including mine safety, for a period of one year upon completion of the degree program.
- Eligibility: Enrolled or planning to enroll in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education; within two years of completing a degree in an eligible field of study under the Erma Byrd Scholarship Program; a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States; and eligible to receive federal grants.

Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship
- The Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship supports outstanding work in international public health by providing a one-time scholarship of up to $3,000 towards a fieldwork project proposed by a qualified graduate student.
- Eligibility: Must be enrolled in a graduate program and possess US citizenship. Must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours of study in field related to international public health.

Truman Scholarship
- The Truman Scholarship provides up to $30,000 in funding to students pursuing graduate degrees in public service fields. Students must be college juniors at the time of selection. The Foundation also provides assistance with career counseling, internship placement, graduate school admissions, and professional development.
- Eligibility: Must have junior-level academic standing at time of application. Students with a bachelor’s degree or already in graduate school are ineligible. Must be a legal US citizen. See website for other requirements.
