Orientation 2009

The 2009 School of Public Health Orientation was held Sept. 2.If you missed it, you can catch up by watching the video below.

Admitted Student Requirements

Health Insurance

All Academic Health Center (AHC) students will be automatically enrolled in the University Sponsored Health Benefit Plan. As a School of Public Health student, you are an AHC student.

The charges will automatically be added to your fee statement whether you register for one or 20 credits.

You may choose to waive the plan if you are eligible. You will be asked to enter your health insurance information when you register for class, this does not waive you from the plan.

The waiver is good for two years.  The Student Benefits Office encourages students to turn in their certificate of credible coverage as soon as possible.

HIPAA Training
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 online training is required for all Academic Health Center students.  Keep an eye on your UMN e-mail for more information.

Immunizations
OSHA regulations, CDC guidelines, and University of Minnesota policy requires all Academic Health Center (AHC) students to have a health clearance as a condition of enrollment.

School of Public Health degree-seeking students* must complete this process to be able to register for classes. The University's Boynton Health Services office will assist you with the process.

Note: The immunization policy does not apply to students in certificate programs, but we encourage all our students to undertake this public health measure.

International Students
International students must complete a set of requirements before registering.

Transcripts
If you are in the process of completing a degree, we must receive an official transcript showing the degree conferred before you may register for classes in your program.

M.S. and Ph.D. are required to submit official transcripts to the UMN Graduate School.

Registration
Registration is completed through the University of Minnesota's One Stop online registration system.

University Internet Account
Your U of MN internet id is the key to online services such as your University e-mail account, registration, tuition, billing statements, and the University's comprehensive student resource, the One Stop website.

You will need your student id number which is listed on the letter you received from the School of Public Health Student Services Center.
note: If you did not include either your social security or date of birth on your application for admission, leave the field(s) blank on the initiation screen.

Minnesota residency affords a considerable advantage on tuition rates. Minnesota has tuition reciprocity agreements with North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Manitoba.

Billing
The UMN utilizes online billing. A link to your bill is e-mailed to your UMN account after the first week of classes. If your registration changes, you may view your most up-to-date charges by going to One Stop and clicking on the "Student Account" quick link.

You may choose to pay in full or, during the fall and spring term, pay in three installments. The installment plan requires a one-time (per term) for $35. Summer term does not offer an installment plan.
