International Students

All admitted international students must complete and return a International Student Financial Certification Statement before the University of Minnesota will issue the form I-20 on the student's behalf.

All new international students must visit the University of Minnesota International Student and Scholar Services office (ISSS) shortly after arrival in Minnesota.

ISSS will review immigration documents, register new students for the International Student Orientation Program, and provide information on how to release registration holds. These processes are mandated by the Department of Homeland Security (formerly known as Immigration and Naturalization Service).
