James (Jim) Pankow received his doctorate and master's degrees in epidemiology from the University of Minnesota. His primary research interest is the genetic epidemiology of cardiovascular disease and its associated risk factors. He conducts research o the epidemiology of type 2 diabetes, including genetic determinants. He teaches Epidemiologic Methods II and Epidemiologic Methods III Lab.
