Admissions

Biostatistics: M.S., M.P.H., Ph.D.

Students may apply for the M.S., M.P.H., or Ph.D. degree. The master’s degrees usually require two years of study. The doctoral degree requires two years of coursework beyond the master’s degree, plus the dissertation. An M.S. in Biostatistics is the more frequently chosen degree over the M.P.H. in Biostatistics.

Applicants should submit materials by Dec. 15, for admission in September of the following year, to allow sufficient time for processing. All applications that arrive before Dec. 15 compete for the first-round offers of admission and financial aid. Applicants are informed of the admission decision at the beginning of March. Students are admitted to start in the fall semester only.

Admissions Review Process

The admissions committee reviews applicants according to their personal statements, background and experience, record of academic achievement, demonstrated academic potential, letters of recommendation, compatibility of interests with program faculty, and other factors.

Test scores and GPAs provide competitive points of reference for admission but are not alone decisive in the admissions review.
