Danielle Simpson

I came to the University of Minnesota because I was impressed with the strength of the CHE program. It was obvious from my first contact with the school that they were a student focused program who wanted to make sure that the students were happy. The faculty list for CHE was extensive and numerous professors conducted research in my interest field which is physical activity and nutrition interventions. We are now six weeks into the school and I am very impressed with the strength of the program. The faculty is extremely approachable and ready to help. Despite the classes being quite challenging, the classes cover great material and are very applicable for future public health professionals. However, I am most impressed with the activities a student can become involved in outside of the classroom. There is always a guest lecturer holding a seminar or someone looking for volunteers to help out with a study. I've been able to volunteer on a physical activity and nutrition intervention that has helped me get my feet wet in terms of what it really takes to run a proper intervention. When I graduate, I'd like to work abroad again for a few years and then settle back down in Canada and work on promoting physical activity to adolescents and in the workplace.
