PubH 6299 Public Health is a Team Sport: The Power of Collaboration

1) Register for the course via the One Stop online registration system. Use class number: 89466
2) Read the course syllabus and the below information carefully.
REQUIRED PRE-ASSIGNMENTS
ASSIGNMENT ONE: Select a book to read from a list of seven (see list below). Because we want to make sure a group of students reads each of the books, we are asking you to okay your book selection with Anne Ehrenberg.
The titles listed at the bottom of the page are linked to the Barnes & Noble description of the book for your convenience but these books are available at your local bookstore, library or online at sites such as amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com.
Please review the list of books and email Anne with your decision. Depending on the size of the class, there will probably be about 5 people per book. Of course you are welcome to read more than one book! We just want to make sure that approximately the same number of people read each book. Feel free to email your book selection request before you register if you are worried about having enough time to read.
ASSIGNMENT TWO: Take the online “What is Public Health?” module. Click on "Online Registration System" near the bottom of the page. You will be asked for your email and password – BUT FIRST you will need to click on the bottom sentence that reads “New to this site? Register with us for access to training modules.” You will be asked for your email and to select a password. A confirmation will be sent to the email you provided. When you get that email (about 30 seconds after you hit submit) follow the link within the email to activate your account. Then you will be asked (again!) to put in your email address and password. It will take you to a participant data form, complete that and hit "submit." THEN (phew!) you will be at the course. Of course, you'll only have to do all this once. If you want to go back to the module, just click on the above link and then enter your email and password and you'll get right into the module.

COURSE DETAILS:
Saturday, May 31, the class will be held in the Mississippi Room of Coffman Memorial Union on the East Bank Campus of the University of Minnesota. Class will begin on Saturday at 1:00pm and will end at about 8:00pm, after a group dinner.
Sunday, June 1, class will be held from 1:00pm-6:00pm in the McNamara Alumni Center, Johnson Great Room.
CASE STUDIES:
Students will be assigned to one of four cases for discussion on day two of the class. Cases will be posted here for review closer to the start of the course.
HOUSING:
If you are planning to stay in the dorms during the three-week Public Health Institute let the housing office know, via your application form, that you are attending the Public Health Institute so they can try and place you with a roommate that is also attending the Institute!
