Description and Goals of the MS-HSRP&A Program

Description:

Students are engaged in interdisciplinary training fundamental to health services research. The core courses provide a foundation for approaching research and policy problems from a rich array of perspectives: economics, management, policy, and sociology as well as research design, programming and statistics courses central to applying quantitative analysis to health care problems. Students can select an interest area that offers more specialized training in research design and analysis or analytic management in health care, or work with their advisor to design an optimal set of courses to meet their training needs and interests.

Goals:

The key goals of the MS program are to provide strong analytic training in Health Services Research and to emphasize an interdisciplinary approach that is grounded in the social sciences. The MS program focuses on research design and quantitative analysis skills and provides a foundation for understanding the health care system and health services research problems. We envision that students completing the program will be skilled and informed contributors to research teams, playing critical supporting roles in the health services research enterprise.
