Master's Project
The Master's Project is a major research paper. It's purpose is to have students demonstrate:
- Familiarity with the tools of research or scholarship in the field of public health;
- The ability to work independently; and
- The ability to effectively present, in written form, the results of their investigation
Students may select topics as a result of prior experience, field experience, coursework, or other meaningful and relevant area of interest.
Students choose one of the following options:
- Critical Review Project: Investigation of a comprehensive, integrative review of the published literature in a specific area that is relevant to public health administration
- Research Project: Application of research skills and analysis of data, either primary or secondary, relevant to public health administration and policy
- Applied Field Project: Based on the project(s) students have initiated during the course of their Field Experience, addressing topics of current relevance to public health administration and policy practice
Students complete the Master's Project near the end of their studies. To assist in the preparation and writing of the Master's Project students complete a 2-credit seminar which will provide support in thesis writing skills, a seminar format for the presentation and discussion of their thesis work, and support for the discussion of the relationship of the thesis to public health administration and policy.
