Financial Support

Students enrolled in PHAP typically supplement their finances through part- or full-time work. Several of our students are currently employed in the field of public health and attend classes on a part-time basis. Others choose to complete the program on a full-time basis and find work as a Graduate Assistant for 10-20 hours per week.

Graduate Assistant Positions

Research and teaching assistant positions become available throughout the year in the Health Policy and Management Division, the School of Public Health, and other departments throughout the University of Minnesota. Many research assistant positions require knowledge of statistical computing, such as SAS and SPSS programs, and we highly recommend students learn one or both of these programs.

These positions are competitive. Look here for GA postings.

Stauffer Scholarship

The Lee D. and Donna Stauffer Scholarship is a partial scholarship awarded annually by the PHAP faculty to one incoming PHAP student who shows high promise of early achievement as a leader in the practice of public health administration and policy. Faculty choose the awardee(s) from the pool of accepted applicants. This scholarship is administered as a graduate research assistantship and no application is required.
