Public Health Medicine Program

Degree: Leads to Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health (M.D./M.P.H.)

Welcome to our Public Health Medicine (PHM) program. If you are currently a medical student, you can enroll in the program and earn an M.P.H. along with your M.D. A public health degree will increase your understanding of population-based science and the cultural and environmental factors that affect patients.

The classroom requirements of the M.P.H. are completed during a 12-month sabbatical (May through May) from medical school while enrolled full time in the School of Public Health. Most students begin the M.P.H. program after year two of medical school. Browse the links at right to learn more about our program and to read about our faculty, students, and alumni. For specific questions, please contact Anne Ehrenberg or Sarah Harper at php@umn.edu.

Thank you for considering our program and the University of Minnesota. We look forward to receiving your application.
