The Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety

MCOHS

MCOHS is an education and research center and is sponsored, in part, by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

The center provides graduate academic and research training programs, continuing education, and outreach 

Faculty Research Interests

Faculty members in Environmental Health Sciences are nationally and internationally renowned in their fields of study. Their current projects focus on everything from pesticide exposure and cancer prevention to consequences of agricultural injuries. They also focus on small business interventions to improve worker health and safety, environmental indicators for the Great Lakes Basin, and many other projects.


Research & Study Centers

Our division is home to or closely affiliated with several centers that promote research, education and the implementation of innovative programs nationally and internationally. These centers include the the Midwest Center for Occupational Health & Safety, the Minnesota Technical Assistance Program, the Regional Injury Prevention Research Center, and more.


Laboratory Facilities

Our graduate students have the opportunity to participate closely with faculty on research projects in high-quality laboratory facilities, including the Industrial Hygiene Laboratory, the Toxicology Laboratory, and the Environmental Chemistry Laboratory.


Research & Training Grants

Major agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Institutes of Health and others consistently select Environmental Health Sciences faculty to lead critical research and training projects.
