Join us on Monday, May 21 from 12-1 pm CT for an MHA Alumni & Friends webinar on disaster response.
Disaster response involves numerous community resources including police, fire, medical providers, transportation, and housing experts. Hospitals play an important role in providing medical care to those who are injured and hospital administrators are tasked with preparing their hospitals to be ready to respond to these disasters now more than ever before. Running a hospital is very complex; planning for the unexpected is considerably more complicated.
In this webinar, you will hear from two hospital administrators who were on call the night of October 1, 2017 during the Las Vegas mass shooting that would become one of the deadliest mass shootings in our nation’s history. Dave Lawson, MHA ‘12 of Summerlin Hospital and Joe White, MHA ‘17 of MountainView Hospital will share their experiences of that tragic event, discuss how their preparation in advance of that event equipped their organizations to respond, and how their planning has evolved since that night. They will offer recommendations for hospitals and health systems to better prepare for disasters in the future. This webinar is designed for healthcare administrators, although students, medical professionals, and professionals from other industries are welcome to join the webinar.
