Program Objectives

  • Describe appropriate methods for measuring population health and health inequalities.
  • Describe the relationship between risk factors and social inequalities in coronary heart disease.
  • Describe population health strategies that achieve the largest population health benefit.

Speakers

Kathleen Thiede Call, PhD, Associate Professor, Division of Health Policy and Management, and Co-Chair, Health Disparities Work Group, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota.

John R. Finnegan, Jr. PhD, Dean, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota.

Rhonda Jones-Webb, DrPH, Associate Professor, Division of Epidemiology and Community Health, and Co-Chair, Health Disparities Work Group, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota.

John W. Lynch, Professor of Epidemiology, Biostatstics and Occupational Health and Canada Research Chair of Population Health at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. Prior to joining the faculty at McGill University, Dr. Lynch was Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Center for Social Epidemiology and Population Health, Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan. His research interests include measurement of population health and health inequalities; social determinants of population health and health inequalities; life course processes at the individual and population level; family resources and child health; and international comparisons. Dr. Lynch was trained in Australia and the United States and received his PhD in epidemiology from the University of California-Berkley.
