Summary

I have been the Principal Investigator of the NHLBI-funded Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) Study and its ancillary studies since 1994. My primary research interest is cardiovascular disease etiology focused on prevention, and I will be assessing the association of prediabetes and inner ear pathology (hearing and balance) in the Year 35 CARDIA exam. As director of the School of Public Health’s Center to Study Human-Animal Relationships and Environments (CENSHARE), I study the health benefits of companion animals. I also teach applied statistical methods and SAS programming for our MPH in Epidemiology program.
