About GO

The Global Outreach Team, or "GO" Team, was formed in 2008 to work with faculty, staff, and students to create a community of global learners. We accomplish this by pursing partnerships and collaborations across schools, organizations, and the world that can help us create international public health education and research opportunities.

In order to meet its mission, the School of Public Health has set goals to advance population health by engaging with communities worldwide and to advance the School's global leadership in public health research and discovery. The GO Team is a resource to those who strive to reach these goals. We work with faculty to develop on-site and online programs and are a resource for students around the globe. Our programs provide international opportunities to university of Minnesota students, such as A Farm to Table Study in Europe, as well as bring a worldwide audience to programs on the University of Minnesota campus, such as the Summer Public Health Institute.

Meet the GO Team.

Vision

The health professions are entering a new era of interdisciplinary collaboration and global delivery systems. This changing professional environment challenges our land grant mission to "extend, apply, and exchange knowledge between the University and society by applying scholarly expertise to community problems, by helping organizations and individuals respond to their changing environments, and by making the knowledge and resources created and preserved at the University accessible to the citizens of the state, the nation, and the world."

We propose creation of an infrastructure and culture of exchange at the University of Minnesota AHC to make real the University mission in a global society.

  1. Extend knowledge
Advance a learning platform that delivers technology enhanced online and onsite short-term intensive educational experiences as meets the educational delivery needs of a global workforce
  2. Apply knowledge
Engage experts among the University of Minnesota AHC faculty and global communities to support a diversity of learning needs
  3. Exchange knowledge
Partner with institutions in select countries to prepare the next generation of health professionals where they will live, work and play
