Masters Degree Programs
Healthcare Administration (MHA) – Full Time On-Campus Program
The MHA programs prepare people to be leaders in the industry of healthcare delivery. The full-time program is appropriate for applicants with limited or no healthcare work experience or individuals who wish to make a career change from industries other than healthcare.
Healthcare Administration (MHA) – Offsite Executive Program
Our MHA Executive Studies programs are specifically designed for employed executives, physicians, and other healthcare professionals seeking to advance their management and leadership capabilities. Most of the coursework is completed online.
Public Health Administration and Policy (MPH)
This major offers a core curriculum centering on managing organizations to improve the health of certain populations. Throughout the program there is a strong emphasis on developing effective communication skills and the ability to work well with various cultures and communities.
Health Services Research, Policy and Administration (MS)
The Master of Science in Health Services Research, Policy and Administration (MS-HSRP&A) is an excellent program for those who wish to develop their analytical capabilities to contribute to health care management, health services research, or health policy work.
Doctoral Degree
Health Services Research, Policy and Administration (PhD)
The Ph.D. in Health Services Research, Policy and Administration trains students for positions as researchers and teachers in top research universities, in government agencies at the state and federal level, and in the research arms of private health insurance, provider, or consulting organizations.
PhD Minor in Health Services Research, Policy and Administration
Doctoral students in other University of Minnesota PhD programs may select a minor in HSRP&A.
Joint Degrees
Joint degree programs contain shared coursework with the partner degree, permitting the student to complete two degrees in less time than if pursued separately.
Students must apply for admission and acceptance to each program separately. Admissions requirements including entrance exams may vary by program.

Management Fundamentals in Healthcare Organizations
This Regents Certificate program will provide you with the fundamentals of healthcare management. It includes the core courses of the Executive MHA but is for individuals who do not desire a full MHA, including individuals working in healthcare organizations who are interested in developing a better understanding of management.
Leading Integrated Health Systems: Organizational Design, Strategy, Finance and Management
Complete advanced courses in integrated health systems, interact with other students and with faculty, and greatly expand your knowledge and abilities. This certificate is intended for individuals — especially clinical professionals — who are moving into leadership positions at their healthcare organization.
Long Term Care Nursing Administration
The University of Minnesota Center for Aging Services Management (formerly the Center for Long Term Care Administration) offers a nontraditional program for people who want to get licensed as a nursing home administrator or are seeking a career as a long term care manager.
