ConvertinoSchool of Public Health Assistant Professor Matteo Convertino received an Outstanding Reviewer Award for his work with the journal Environmental Modeling & Software.

Convertino is one of just 10 researchers worldwide to receive the yearly award.

“I truly love to participate in the work of my peers,” says Convertino. “I am very happy to be recognized because it means they see I put a lot of constructive effort into the review process.”

The awards are given to researchers based on the volume, rigor, constructiveness, and timeliness of their reviews.

On average, Convertino reviews three to four papers a month for the journal, and in 2015, reviewed a total of 42 papers.

“Performing reviews makes my job more interesting because I enjoy providing an objective evaluation of the findings, as well as suggestions on how the work can be improved,” says Convertino. “I truly think that the review process is a conversational process where reviewers and authors are engaged into a productive dialogue.”
