Contest Award Night

The SPH will award a $500 first-place
prize to the entrant with the best 30-second PSA that effectively expresses a
public health message.

We will be showing Crude Awaking: the
Oil Crash. It is a 90-minute documentary
that tells the story of how our
civilization's addiction to oil puts it on a
collision course with geology.

We will be showing ¡Salud!, which
examines how the cash-strapped
country of Cuba has become "one of the
world's best health systems."

We will being showing three episodes
of Unnatural Causes, a new PBS
documentary that examines America's
socio-economic and racial inequities in
health.

SPH Alumni Society Annual Meeting

Facilitated by SPH Alumni Board member
Dr. Michael Trujillo, this gathering will
engage alumni in an advocacy-oriented
dialog about science vs. ideology.
Participants will be asked to come
prepared to discuss pre-selected articles
that will be announced in the invitation.

gather for major-specific, informal social

This gala fundraising event will allow
the public health community to both
engage with Dr. Richard Carmona, M.D.,
M.P.H., FACS, 17th Surgeon General of
the United States (2002-2006), who will
deliver the keynote address and field
questions from the audience, and rally in
support of student scholarships, which
will ensure that future generations of
public health professionals are prepared
to lead.

We will be showing Sex Ed and the
State, which is a look at the Minnesota's
state legislature and the fate of a
comprehensive sexuality education
bill. Vintage sex ed films will also be
screened.
