Please note that this is a trial period. Please use discretion when printing and utilize methods that reduce the environmental and economic impact of your printing (such as using double-sided, black color, and using the “Print Preview” option to ensure that you are not printing excess pages). The school will monitor the printing. If printing happens in excess, the school will search for a new solution. Please notice the new printer/copier/scanner in the computer lab. It will allow you to utilize double-sided printing, full color printing, copies, and scanning documents onto a lab computer (by using the Microsoft Office scan software). If you have any questions, contact sph-ssc@umn.edu or 6-3663, or stop by D305 Mayo between 7:45-4:30 Monday-Friday. MS Research Funding Opportunities. The National MS Society supports a wide variety of basic and applied research programs aimed at preventing, treating and curing MS and improving quality of life. Volunteer at the GLBT Pride Festival. The STD and HIV Section of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) will be conducting a behavioral survey at the 2007 Twin Cities GLBT Pride Festival. MDH needs volunteers to conduct interviews. The survey is a follow-up to a similar survey MDH conducted in 2004. (View survey results). Volunteer training is Friday, June 22, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Volunteers can work a three-hour shift on either Saturday, June 23, or Sunday, June 24. School NewsEpiCH summer shuttle schedule. Beginning June 11 the shuttle will make four daily runs from WBOB to Mayo. The shuttle will leave WBOB at 9 and 11 a.m. and then 1 and 3 p.m. It will leave Mayo at 15 past the hour. The mail runs from WBOB to ECRC and the Dean's Office will remain the same: 1 p.m. for ECRC and 3 p.m. for the Dean's Office. The shuttle will not run to the Minnesota Department of Health during the summer. For questions call Ginger Hughes at 6-9397. SPH EventsThe National Maternal Nutrition Intensive Course will be held July 25-27 in the Cowles Auditorium at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute. This continuing education program focuses on the improvement of maternal and infant health through the delivery of risk-appropriate, high-quality nutrition services. UPCOMING CPHEO COURSES Other EventsDoes Racism Make Us Sick? This interactive session will take place on Monday, June 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. EDT. The event is a part of the 13th Annual Summer Public Health Research videoconference on Minority Health Representatives from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs will be on campus Tuesday, June 26. This is an opportunity to gain firsthand information on the agency. Discussions will take place in Humphrey 215. Agenda: 1-2 p.m. Working with international student advisors and students; 2:15-3:15 p.m. Working with study abroad advisors and students; 3:30-4:30 p.m. Informal panel/recruitment event for people interested in future employment with the State Department. Dr. Mona El-Farra, physician and internationally recognized human rights leader, will speak Monday, June 25, 7 p.m., at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis. The event is free and open to the public. Donations accepted. The event is sponsored by The Middle East Children's Alliance and The Middle East Committee of WAMM. The U's Center for German & European Studies will host Germany's minister of health and her delegation for a two-day trans-Atlantic forum. The American and German "Healthcare and Innovation" forum will be held on Monday, July 16 and Tuesday, July 17.
A professional grant proposal writing workshop will be held in August at North Dakota State University. The Grant Institute's Grants 101: Professional Grant Proposal Writing Workshop will be held August 1 - 3.
