University E-mail Account

You will want to initialize your University Internet account as soon as possible at www.umn.edu/initiate. You will need your University student identification number to initialize your account. This seven-digit number is noted at the beginning of the letter sent to you upon notification of admission.

Students are required to read their e-mail for official school and University messages. Notice of financial aid packages and billing statements, for example, will be distributed only by e-mail to students' official University account. It is very important that you start regularly checking email at this account.
