Admissions

The Public Health Certificate in Core Concepts is designed for professionals working in health or human services. All applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree. In addition, the admissions committee looks closely at the applicant's work experience and grades in math and science.


Admission preferences and prerequisites:

  • Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree
  • A GPA of 3.0 is preferred
  • Applicant should demonstrate strong written skills
  • No standardized test scores are required*
    * international applicants only - a TOEFL score of 100 (internet-based), 250 (computer-based) or 600 (paper) is preferred

Application Process

Public Health Certificate in Core Concepts (PHCert-CC)
Applicants must submit to SOPHAS, the centralized online application service:

  • Completed SOPHAS application and application fee, designating the U of MN School of Public Health
  • Personal Essay describing their reason for applying, career goals and how the PHCert-CC will help them achieve their goals
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • Official transcripts of record from each college/university attended.
  • Resume or C.V.
  • TOEFL test scores (international applicants only)
