Learning Objectives

The doctoral program in Health Services Research, Policy and Administration (HSRP&A) is designed primarily for students interested in academic careers or senior research positions in government or the private sector.

  • Core
    A multidisciplinary examination of the social, political, and economic forces that affect the organization, financing and delivery of health care services. There is a strong emphasis on theory, modeling and quantitative methods.
  • Preparation
    Graduates will be able to conduct sophisticated empirical studies and formulate policy options using a wide range of quantitative and qualitative analytic techniques.
  • Coursework
    Is focused on health and health services, supported by the student's ongoing involvement with the faculty on research projects and is also linked to the health care field by these projects.
  • Additional Opportunities
    In addition to the coursework and supervised research and teaching experiences, the program provides students with an opportunity for further interchange with faculty through a series of research seminars and doctoral colloquia.
