Interdisciplinary Concentrations (IC), School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota

Interdisciplinary Concentrations (IC)

Available only to students enrolled in an M.P.H. degree program at the School of Public Health

Interdisciplinary concentrations are optional secondary areas of study to further personalize and enrich a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree. Students who are enrolled in an M.P.H. program are eligible to add an IC to their coursework.

Students do not have to identify or apply to an interdisciplinary concentration prior to being admitted as an M.P.H. student in the School of Public Health, but may begin an IC during their matriculation in the School of Public Health with the approval of the appropriate advisor.

To complete the interdisciplinary concentration students select from required and elective courses, as specified, for a designated number of credits (typically 12). Students work with their academic advisor to select courses meeting academic goals and objectives and to plan for the overall progression of coursework. Completing an IC does not necessarily extend the amount of time to complete an M.P.H. program.

Interdisciplinary concentrations are officially recognized areas of study, and are documented on the student's University transcript upon successful completion.
