CORPORATE MANAGER, STRATEGIC SERVICES
PROVIDENCE HEALTH & SERVICES
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Edward West 1997 MHAFor Ed West, exceptional alumni connections made Minnesota the clear program choice. It began at Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, where West worked as an intern. Alum Jim Anderson introduced West to the Minnesota program, and he signed on.

"The beauty of this program is that they make sure that everybody gets a clerkship they want," he said. "Where do you want to go? What kind of organization do you want to work for? They asked these questions and made the connections."

Ed secured a fellowship at a West Coast healthcare organization and now works in Seattle, all through Minnesota connections. Today, Ed works to improve hospital operational performance and IT process improvement and productivity.

As for Minnesota? "You can’t beat the Twin Cities as a dynamic, vibrant, well educated, cultural business center," he said. "For an African American, I’d say the Twin Cities is one of the best places to be if you’re career-minded. Personally, I love Minnesota. I’d move there in a heart beat."
