Graduate Credit for Non-Degree Students
Use the process described below to register for a public health course if you meet both of the following conditions:
- You are not enrolled currently in a University of Minnesota degree or certificate program.
- You want to receive graduate credit.*
Courses taken for undergraduate credit are not transferable to a graduate-level program.
Please follow these directions:
- View the schedule of public health course offerings. If you meet the prerequisites, please continue.
- Contact the instructor for a permission number. For contact information see the Directory or contact the Student Services Center at 612 626-3500. If you receive a permission number, please continue.
- Download the Registration Request for Graduate Credit (Non-Degree Seeking Students) Form - (PDF).
- Complete the form using the course and call number. Please write legibly. Be sure to note your grade option A/F for grade or S/N for pass/fail. Register for more than one course using the same form, even if they are not public health courses. Students may be enrolled in only one academic unit each semester; by registering through the School of Public Health, public health becomes your "home" unit.
- Mail, fax, or drop off the form to the School of Public Health Student Services Center for authorization and processing. There is no need for you to complete any additional paper or electronic documentation.
- You will receive a class list via email from the Office of the Registrar displaying your course registration. A tuition statement will be mailed to your home address. You will be charged School of Public Health graduate level tuition per credit.
- You must complete this process for every term you which to register in a course.
