Diabetes takes a disproportionate toll on Native Americans. They are, on average, 2.2 times more likely to have the disease than non-Hispanic whites. “Culturally competent public health approaches are needed to combat the problem,” said Monte Fox.

“[Bird flu] is a scenario that could devastate millions of lives and have an enormous impact on the economy,” said Gary Olmstead. “We need to be prepared.”
Lonnie King Lonnie King
“Public health is at a crossroads,” said Lonnie King, dean of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. “The increasing convergence of human and animal health is creating complex new challenges. We need to engage a more diverse group of partners to find solutions.”
