He was also quoted in Sunday’s Los Angeles Times about pandemic influenza coming to the U.S. in migratory birds and today’s Canadian Press about pandemic influenza research. Lyn Steffen, School of Public Health, was quoted in the Brantford Expositor about how eating more fruits and veggies could reduce the risk for strokes. Wednesday, March 15 Michael Osterholm, School of Public Health, was profiled in the April 2006 issue of Minnesota Monthly and today’s Toronto Star about pandemic flu. Thursday, March 16, 2006 Michael Osterholm, School of Public Health, was featured in the Pioneer Press in a story about pandemic flu. Friday, March 17 Lyn Steffen, School of Public Health, was quoted in Friday’s Pioneer Press about the danger of low-carbohydrate diets. He was also quoted in many other articles throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom about this topic. Saturday, March 18 Michael Osterholm, School of Public Health, was quoted in Saturday’s Star Tribune about the shortage of trained personnel who can operate medical ventilators in case of a bird flu outbreak. He was quoted in a Canadian Press story about public perceptions of pandemic influenza and in the Houston Chronicle about the dangers of free-range birds.
