Certificate and Licensure Programs

We offer seven Regents Certificate Programs in Public Health. These are non-degree programs designed for working health and human services professionals with little or no formal public health education, who wish to develop skills and knowledge in a specific area of public health.

We also offer a nontraditional licensure program for people who want to get licensed as a nursing home administrator or are seeking a career as a long term care manager.

Public Health Practice

Public Health Certificate in Clinical Research

The Public Health Certificate in Clinical Research is designed for clinicians and other health professionals who have with an advanced degree in a health science discipline or a BSN.

Public Health Certificate in Core Concepts

The Public Health Certificate in Core Concepts contains the core content taught in our Master of Public Health (MPH) degree programs. All courses are available in online and in-person formats.

Public Health Certificate in Food Protection

This certificate is awarded upon successful completion of at least 14 credits. Most students complete the curriculum by attending at least two Public Health Institutes (PHI), held in May/June of each year.

Public Health Certificate in Performance Improvement - Public Health track

If you are an upper- or middle-level manager interested in acquiring knowledge and skills in quality improvement, this program is for you — especially in an era of public health accreditation. The 12 credit program is designed to prepare you to successfully lead and implement effective quality improvement programs. The curriculum is offered online or in class and students complete a state-of-the-art improvement project in their organization.

Public Health Certificate in Preparedness, Response and Recovery

This certificate is awarded upon successful completion of at least 12 credits. Most students complete the curriculum by attending at least two Public Health Institutes (PHI), held in May/June of each year.  The PHCert - PRR curriculum also offers elective courses in health informatics with scholarships available for interested students.

Aging Studies Certificate

The Aging Studies Certificate is an 18 credit graduate level program and courses are available online as well as in a face-to-face format. The certificate is designed to increase knowledge and understanding in the multi-faceted field of human aging. This interdisciplinary program provides students with the background and confidence necessary to meet the challenges of serving the aging population.

Executive Studies in Healthcare Administration

Management Fundamentals in Healthcare Organizations

This Regents Certificate program will provide you with the fundamentals of healthcare management. It includes coursework in the design of healthcare delivery systems, health economics, cost accounting in healthcare, introduction to healthcare finance, teamwork in healthcare, and an introduction to management principles in health care.

Long Term Care Administration Licensure

The University's Center for Aging Services Management offers a nontraditional program for people who want to get licensed as a nursing home administrator or are seeking a career as a long term care manager.

Most students are working adults who come from a variety of backgrounds such as management, nursing, therapeutic activities, social work, and other disciplines.
