This program is designed for professionals working in health or human services.

All applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree.

In addition, the admissions committee looks closely at the applicant’s work experience and grades in math and science.


Public Health Certificate in Food Protection

The Public Health Certificate in Food Protection (PHCert-FP) is a program in the Public Health Practice Major. You can earn this certificate after you have successfully completed a minimum of 14 credits.

You typically complete the curriculum by attending at least two Public Health Institutes (PHI), held in May/June of each year.

Welcome from the Program Director

CraigCraig Hedberg, pictured, is a professor in our Division of Environmental Health Sciences.

His research interests include food borne disease surveillance, surveillance of environmental factors associated with foodborne disease, the role of food workers in the occurrence of food borne diseases, use of epidemiologic methods in outbreak investigations and disease control, environmental contamination with enteric pathogens.
