Long Term Care Administration

Pre-Licensure Program

About the Program

The University of Minnesota Center for Aging Services Management offers a nontraditional program for people who want to get licensed as a nursing home administrator or are seeking a career as a long term care manager.

Premier Training Program

Founded in 1968, the Center is among the premier training programs for managers of long term care facilities in the upper Midwest.

Most students are working adults who come from a variety of backgrounds such as management, nursing, therapeutic activities, social work, and other disciplines. Full-time students interested in licensure also enroll in the Pre-Licensure program.

In coming years, the Center will broaden its curriculum to offer advanced training to managers across the long term care continuum to encompass community-based services, senior housing, assisted living facilities, and nursing facilities.

The Center for Aging Services Management has a reputation for meeting the needs of each student. The Center provides assistance in the development of an individualized study plan to help students obtain licensure in an efficient and timely manner.

Welcome

GrantI’ve been teaching for almost 20 years about long term care management, healthcare policy, healthcare management ethics, and advanced problem solving in healthcare organizations.

Through my research I’ve explored culture change, environmental design and leadership development. I’m interested in organizational systems that drive performance improvement in long term care. Here are some links that will get you to recent trade journal articles that I wrote about culture change based on my research.
