Healthier, Earlier: Cardiovascular Health Across the Life Course

Norinna Bai Allen, PhD Professor, Health Sciences Integrated Program Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois In this talk, we will cover the scientific rationale and epidemiologic evidence for primordial prevention, tracing life-course trajectories of cardiovascular health from preconception through young adulthood to show how early exposures shape cumulative risk. We will examine approaches to trajectory-based risk assessment and early identification, and discuss population, clinical, and policy interventions that preserve ideal levels of Life’s Essential 8.Throughout, we consider equity implications, translation into guidelines and care pathways, and how health systems can measure and accelerate prevention across generations.

Parking is available. Light refreshments will be served.

The lecture honors the memory of Carl J. Martinson, MD, who founded the Minnetonka Hospital, The Martinson Clinic, and who actively promulgated good health habits as the way to a productive, long, happy life.
