The need for those with research or practice expertise to communicate with the public, the press, and policymakers has become increasingly clear. However, this type of communication requires different methods and skills beyond those needed in traditional academic settings. Social media, as well as op-eds and commentaries in the press, are effective tools for academics to reach a wider audience.
