ChatGPT, a large language model AI from Open AI, has sent shockwaves through academic and professional communities. For those involved in teaching, the availability of text-generation AI raises questions about students allowing chatbots to complete their written assignments and whether learning to write remains an essential skill. In this seminar, we’ll examine the hype and reality of text-generation platforms, examine how artificial intelligence is already transforming how we use writing, and consider the potential and perils of increased automation as a part of the public health and education landscape.
