Alicen will discuss her current role at the National Institutes of Health Vaccine Research Center, leading a program that prepares the U.S. for the next infectious disease pandemic. Trained as an epidemiologist, she will discuss how her work evolved into science management, where this work falls within the structure of NIH, and how the aims of this new program should prepare us for the unexpected.
