In January 2020, the School of Public Health launched an effort to develop a schoolwide strategic plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to drive lasting change in our school. Over the last eight months, the strategic planning committee — a group that represents diverse backgrounds and perspectives and includes individuals from each SPH division — led a comprehensive school climate assessment and recently developed the first draft of the strategic plan. All SPH faculty, staff, students, alumni, and strategic partners can review the draft plan beginning Tuesday, February 23. An email notification will be sent when it is posted for review.
During the February SPH Community Forum, we will discuss the draft plan and the vision for change at SPH. Dean Finnegan will discuss the importance of leadership, accountability, schoolwide commitment, and how this strategic plan aligns with other SPH DEI efforts underway. SPH DEI Director Lauren Eldridge will cover recent accomplishments, the structure of the strategic plan, and how our community can engage in the planning and implementation process. Breakout groups will have the opportunity to engage further about our shared vision and what each of our roles will look like. We hope you are able to join us!
