Project Ready Schools
Project Ready Schools (PRS) is a regional initiative designed to strengthen how K–12 schools and public health partners prepare for and respond to infectious disease events and public health emergencies. Informed by Year 1 engagement across Region 5, PRS focuses on improving communication, coordination, and preparedness planning within school settings, recognizing schools as important community partners during public health events.
Through PRS, participating school systems work alongside public health agencies to clarify roles and responsibilities, strengthen partnerships, and develop practical communication strategies that can be used during real-world scenarios. The initiative emphasizes clear, coordinated messaging, proactive planning, and the ability to respond effectively to rapidly evolving situations, including the spread of misinformation.
