Ways to Give
Gifts of all sizes advance the school, and you fund what matters most you. When you support public health, the output is exponentially greater than the input. Because one breakthrough in public health produces years, decades, and even centuries of change…for the better.
2026 Philanthropic Tax Law Changes
The following changes will take effect with tax year 2026 for those that itemize.
New Floor on Deductions
Itemizers who make charitable contributions will only be able to claim a tax deduction to the extent that their qualified contributions exceed 0.5 percent of their adjusted gross income (AGI). As an example, a couple with an AGI of $300,000 could only deduct charitable donations in excess of $1,500.
Deduction Limits for High-Income Earners
For those in the 37 percent marginal tax bracket, itemized charitable deductions are capped at 35 percent. As an example, a filer with an AGI of $1 million who donates $20,000 would only be able to deduct $15,000.

Monthly
Set up a sustaining gift (PDF) through monthly payments via your credit card or bank account.
Endowed
Endowments ensure that there is an enduring source of funding for the school’s immediate and future needs. Endowments grow over time—the principal is invested and a portion of the fund’s value, currently 4.5 percent, is made available each year to support the purpose determined by the donor.
Matching
Double or triple your donation with a matching gift from your employer. Search the University of Minnesota database to see if your employer offers matching gifts.
