Employment Opportunities

SPH Career & Professional Development Services

Many SPH students attend school part-time or take an extra semester to allow time to work while in school. It’s up to each student to secure a position, but SPH Career & Professional Development Center can assist you with your job search.

Public Health Jobs

See the public health job postings hosted by the School of Public Health for general employment and potential paid internships.

Campus Jobs

There are many student jobs available at the University of Minnesota. Please visit this UMN Human Resources site for additional information about student employment, including how to find online job postings.

Some campus positions are restricted to students with a Work Study designation. Only students with work-study funds can apply for these positions.

Assistantships

Many SPH students use graduate assistantships to help finance their education. These are campus working/learning positions that take the form of research, teaching or administrative appointments. Students in the SPH registered for six or more credits, including international students, are eligible to apply.

Student Positions

Student positions are available within the Minnesota government. Select “Intern/Student Worker” under Position Type.

It may be possible to use these positions to fulfill the internship requirement for many of the SPH programs. Also, several students have completed master’s degree projects related to their work with the Minnesota Department of Health.
