Modeling Infectious Disease Transmission and Policy Interventions
MADMC’s infectious disease modeling platform will provide a strong infrastructure and streamlined approach for responding to disease outbreaks in Minnesota. Infectious disease models play a key role in guiding public health responses to emerging disease threats. They can provide information that allows decision makers to evaluate the potential benefits and costs of public health interventions under different scenarios of uncertainty.
Our Work
The MADMC infectious disease modeling platform will be quickly and readily adaptable to a variety of pathogen types. It will represent the population of Minnesota and will consist of three components:
- The Model Input Toolkit will allow developers to gather the necessary inputs and parameters to build out the infectious disease model
- The Infectious Disease Model is a mathematical model that estimates infections, cases, hospitalizations, and deaths for Minnesota under different intervention scenarios
- The Results Visualization Dashboard allows users to interactively view scenario modeling results to gain insights into potential policy actions
