Executive MHA Profile: Ashton Schatz

Charlie Plain | September 4, 2014

Ashton Schatz’s career is progressing well. As a healthcare attorney and student in the Executive MHA program, she’s already noticed a difference in the way she delivers guidance, thereby garnering the respect of many key leaders within her practice.

SCHATZ-Ashton-1-2014As a regulatory and reimbursement process manager in the Medicare Strategy Unit at Mayo Clinic, Schatz’s main focus is on regulatory compliance with all government programs, including Medicare. She is looked to for insight on statutes, changing regulations and new guidance from government agencies. Though she’s able to provide an interpretation, her guidance on next steps for the practice fell short as she did not fully understand the operations of the practice or appreciate the impact the change may cause.

Schatz met with several leaders within her organization; each one recommended the University of Minnesota’s Executive MHA program. Given the endorsement from leadership and her location, the Minnesota program was the best fit.

“My MHA studies provide me with a greater understanding of hospital operations, allowing me to provide guidance that assists the practice with moving forward in a manner that meets the requirements with as little burden as possible,” says Schatz. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience within the Executive MHA program and look forward to my future.”
