Job Outlook

Increasingly large volumes of data in electronic health records (EHR), surveys, claims, and a variety of other sources fuel investigative discovery in healthcare research and analytics to improve population health. Health data analysts are responsible for a full range of data management: collecting, managing, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating to enhance healthcare systems and population health. Jobs in the field of health analytics may come with different titles, depending on the institution and role.

The MS in HSRP&A degree program gives graduates a competitive edge for career earnings and advancement in the field of health data analytics, with an average starting salary in the range of $70,000 to $79,000.

What Do graduates Do?

Health services researchers and health data analysts work for managed care organizations, health insurance companies, medical device companies, health research organizations, departments of public health, and other health related industries. The Twin Cities is a top location for health services research, home to corporate headquarters of several major healthcare organizations, including UnitedHealth Group, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and 3M Healthcare, among many others.

Our graduates work in positions that seek to translate data into evidence for improving health care and population health, reducing costs, finding efficiencies, improving performance and patient outcomes, and influencing health policy.
