About the School of Public Health

At the University of Minnesota

What We Do

Through our education, research and community outreach, we focus on improving the health of populations.

Our interdisciplinary approach enables us to collaborate with many other schools at the University of Minnesota.

By combining our expertise, we can explore innovative ways of maintaining and improving the health of people in Minnesota, our country and the world.

Discover public health at the University of Minnesota

We’re proud to be among the top public health schools in the country, a distinction that reflects our firm commitment to academic and research excellence. The University of Minnesota offers opportunities for scholarly work under world-renowned faculty — opportunities you simply won’t find at smaller institutions.

Public health is a field of and for people who seek to improve health, extend life, and make a lasting community impact, entire populations at a time. The field offers great opportunities for graduates and holds an even greater promise for society.

We’re growing

Our faculty ranks have increased 37 percent since 2004. And it’s a productive faculty. For four consecutive years, we rank No. 1 per capita (grant monies awarded per faculty member) at the university, making the school the most fiscally productive unit on campus. We’re also the most productive per capita school of any U.S. public health school within a public university.

We experienced six consecutive years of record student enrollment, more than doubling our student body in that period. Currently, we have more than 1,300 students who work with 128 faculty members.
