About Our School
Discover Public Health at the University of Minnesota
We are proud to be among the top schools of public health in the country, a distinction that reflects our firm commitment to academic and research excellence.
Public health is a field of and for people who seek to improve health, extend life, and make a lasting impact community by community, entire populations at a time. The field offers great opportunities for graduates and holds an even greater promise for society.
The University of Minnesota, a Big Ten university, offers opportunities for research and study under world renowned faculty that you simply won’t find at smaller institutions. You will also find your place in the University’s sprawling social network of groups and student organizations.
Our School is located in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, a large, vibrant metro area with rich cultural and recreational offerings and home to one of the best state health departments in the nation.
We are growing
Our faculty ranks have increased 37 percent since 2004. And it is a productive faculty: For four consecutive years, we rank number one per capita (grant monies awarded per faculty member) at the University of Minnnesota, making the school the most fiscally productive unit on campus. And we are the most productive per capita school of any U.S. school of public health at a public university.
We experienced six consecutive years of record student enrollment, more than doubling our student body in that period. Currently, we have more than 1,300 students who study under and work with 128 faculty members.
