Centers

The Division of Health Policy & Management is home to eight research centers. It’s no coincidence that major public and private funders frequently select us to lead critical research, training, and policy development projects.

Our Research Centers

The Center for Healthy Aging and Innovation
Advances interdisciplinary aging science; creates meaningful and immersive educational experiences in aging; builds and sustains innovations in care and services; and establishes vibrant community, governmental, business, and individual collaborations to promote healthy aging for Minnesotans and people across the country.

Center for Antiracism Research for Health Equity (CARHE)
Focuses on research and engagement in pursuit of health equity and justice for every individual, family, and community and is grounded on the understanding that racism is a fundamental cause of health inequities.

Center for Public Health Systems
The Center for Public Health Systems (CPHS) supports public health practitioners and public health systems using evidence-based research.

State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC)
A multidisciplinary health policy research center with a focus on sound data to inform state policies. Staff members represent a broad range of expertise, ranging from economics, statistics and evaluation to sociology and journalism.

Research Data Assistance Center (ResDAC)
Helps the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) increase the number of new researchers skilled in accessing and using CMS data for studies that improve the Medicare and Medicaid programs and add value to current CMS activities. ResDAC provides free assistance to researchers interested in using Medicare and/or Medicaid data for their research.

The Rural Health Research Center
Conducts research and disseminates information that helps policymakers better address the unique health care needs of rural America. Primary areas of research: health care quality, payment reform, and technology use in rural areas.

The Minnesota Evidence-based Practice Center
A collaborative venture between the University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis Veterans Administration (VA) Health Care System, is funded by the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) to conduct systematic literature reviews on health-related topics as a basis for guiding policy and practice. It also undertakes methodological projects.

Midwest Analytics and Disease Modeling Center (MADMC)
MADMC was established to improve the availability and accessibility of modeling and analytic tools to support state and local public health decision making during public health emergencies. As one of 13 funded sites across the U.S., this partnership between the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the Minnesota Electronic Health Records Consortium will work alongside the CDC’s Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) to support Insight Net, a national outbreak analytics & disease modeling network.
